1. Error correction challenge

Read each sentence, identify the problem, then reveal the correction.

١. هِيَ مُتَفائِل.

هِيَ مُتَفائِلَةٌ. — The adjective must agree with a feminine subject.

٢. الصَّديقُ الَّتي يُساعِدُني مُخلِصٌ.

الصَّديقُ الَّذي يُساعِدُني مُخلِصٌ. — Use الَّذي with a masculine singular noun.

٣. هذِهِ البِنطَلونُ جَميلٌ.

هٰذا البِنطَلونُ جَميلٌ. — بِنطَلون is masculine.

٤. هٰذا الفُستانُ تُناسِبُ الحَفلَةَ.

هٰذا الفُستانُ يُناسِبُ الحَفلَةَ. — The verb agrees with the masculine noun فستان.

٥. هُوَ أَكثَرُ طَويلاً مِن أَخيهِ.

هُوَ أَطوَلُ مِن أَخيهِ. — Use the أَفعَل comparative form.

٦. هِيَ الأَكثَرُ مُبدِع.

هِيَ أَكثَرُ الطّالِباتِ إِبداعاً. — Use a complete superlative structure.

٧. يَتَشاجَرُ الوَلَدُ مَعَ نَفسِهِ.

يَتَشاجَرُ الوَلَدانِ مَعَ بَعضِهِما. — Form VI normally expresses reciprocal action between two or more people.

٨. مِن وِجهَةِ نَظَري لِأَنَّ المَوضَةَ مُهِمَّةٌ.

مِن وِجهَةِ نَظَري، المَوضَةُ مُهِمَّةٌ لِأَنَّها تُعَبِّرُ عَنِ الهُوِيَّةِ.

٩. لا يُمكِنُ إِنكارُ لٰكِنَّ المَلابِسَ تُعَبِّرُ عَنِ الشَّخصِيَّةِ.

لا يُمكِنُ إِنكارُ أَنَّ المَلابِسَ تُعَبِّرُ عَنِ الشَّخصِيَّةِ.

١٠. أُختي أَكثَرُ طَويلَةً مِنّي.

أُختي أَطوَلُ مِنّي.

١١. هٰذا القَميصُ أَجمَلُ مِن كُلّ.

هٰذا القَميصُ هُوَ الأَجمَلُ. — Use the definite superlative when comparing with the whole group.

١٢. صَديقَتي أَقَلُّ صَبوراً مِن أَخي.

صَديقَتي أَقَلُّ صَبراً مِن أَخي.

لا، لا أُسايِرُ المَوضَةَ دائِماً، لِأَنَّني أُفَضِّلُ المَلابِسَ الَّتي تُعَبِّرُ عَن شَخصِيَّتي. مَثَلاً، أَرتَدي مَلابِسَ مُريحَةً وبَسيطَةً. بِالإِضافَةِ إِلى ذٰلِكَ، أَعتَقِدُ أَنَّ المَوضَةَ السَّريعَةَ ضارَّةٌ بِالبِيئَةِ.

4. Short writing application

Put the corrections and the PEEL pattern to work. Write 60–80 words in Arabic about a friend or a family member.

I used an أَفعَل comparative, not أَكثَر + adjective.

My relative pronoun matches the gender of the noun.

Compare with a model answer

صَديقَتي هِيَ الَّتي تُساعِدُني دائِماً. هِيَ أَطوَلُ مِنّي وأَكثَرُ صَبراً. أُحِبُّ شَخصِيَّتَها لِأَنَّها مُتَفائِلَةٌ ومُخلِصَةٌ. مَثَلاً، تَرتَدي مَلابِسَ بَسيطَةً ومُريحَةً. بِالإِضافَةِ إِلى ذٰلِكَ، مِن وِجهَةِ نَظَري، الصَّداقَةُ أَهَمُّ مِنَ المَوضَةِ.

Notice: الَّتي for a feminine noun, أَطوَلُ مِن as a true comparative, and feminine singular adjectives after the non-human plural مَلابِس.
