Skills Practice
Practise listening, reading, speaking and writing with the same lesson language.
Listening
Listen for distractors. Listen twice: first for the overall meaning, then for evidence.
🎧 Recorded audio coming soon — use the device voice for listening practice now. Keep the transcript hidden for your first two listens.
- What is the main topic or situation?
- Write one word you heard clearly and one similar word you must not confuse with it.
- Replay once and confirm the correct detail.
Check your listening
A successful answer identifies the main topic, at least three accurate words and one relevant detail. Replay once, then reveal the transcript only if you still need support.
Reading
Underline known words before answering.
- What is the main idea or situation?
- Choose one phrase and explain what it means in this context.
- Find one example that shows the lesson language or grammar in use.
- What extra detail could you add to make the text more complete?
Reading support
Start with names, numbers, repeated words, connectors and familiar verb patterns. You do not need to translate every word.
Speaking
Build your answer, then ask a follow-up question.
- Choose three questions from this unit and answer them aloud without notes. Re-record or repeat the weakest answer.
- Use at least three useful items from this lesson and one complete sentence with the target grammar.
- Add one reason, detail or example instead of giving only a short answer.
Working alone? Record yourself for 30–60 seconds, listen back once, and improve one pronunciation, grammar or fluency point.
Writing
Plan, write, check and improve.
Task: Complete the writing task on this page under timed conditions, then use the checklist to improve one paragraph or section. Target: 80–100 words, extending to 130–140 words for an extended exam-style task.
Activities
Complete the activities in order, or choose the one that addresses your weakest area.
✅ Do this now — independent mini-assessment
You can complete this short check without any extra worksheet. Use the Skills Practice section on this page.
- Listening: keep the transcript hidden, play the device voice twice and answer the three listening questions.
- Reading: answer all four questions on the separate reading text.
- Speaking: record the speaking task for 45–60 seconds, then improve one point.
- Writing: complete the writing task and use the checklist before you reveal any support.
Afterwards: note one secure area and one target in the Final check box.
Conditional confidence
"Today you Look at me conditional sentences in Arabic — إِذا + present + comma + future. You Look at me medical passives — يُعالَج، يُشَخَّص. You Look at me academic health vocabulary — غني بـ، يفتقر إلى، يُقَوِّي، يُحَسِّن. This is P1 Arabic. Look at me." you think of one conditional sentence you are confident about. Papers over.
Part A — Listening (20 marks)
Text 1 (55 sec): A nutritionist discusses healthy eating habits — 8 multiple choice (3 options): 2 nutritional questions (غني بـ/يحتوي على context), 1 passive recommendation (يُوصى بـ), 2 conditional questions (إِذا + consequence), 1 statistic (percentage), 1 Form II benefit verb (يُقَوِّي/يُحَسِّن context), 1 comparison. 8 marks. Text 2 (45 sec): Two Discuss stress and mental health — matching (Person A / Person B / Both). 6 statements — includes conditional sentences and يُعاني من. 6 marks. Writing Q1 (5 marks): Health record form — fill in 5 fields in Arabic (main diet type, frequency of exercise, sleep hours, one health challenge, one conditional recommendation for a healthier life). Writing Q2 (15 marks): Article or email (about 130–140 words): "كَيف أَحافِظ على صِحَّتي في القَرن الواحِد والعِشرين؟" TC (5), Range (5 — conditional and passive are the target structures), Accuracy (5 — conditional tense and passive formation primary).
Part C — Speaking (10 marks)
Role play (4 marks): At a health centre for a wellbeing check-up — 4 prompts: describe your diet (غني بـ/يحتوي على expected), describe your exercise habits, say what health challenge you face (يُعاني من expected), ask for a conditional recommendation (هَل يُمكِنك أَن تُخبِرَني: إِذا فعَلتُ X، سـ..؟). Communication (2) + Accuracy (2 — conditional and passive in prompt 3). Topic conversation (6 marks): 3 questions — "ما نِظامُك الغِذائي؟ كَيف تَتَعامَل مَع ضَغط الدِّراسة؟ (يُعاني من + يتغَلَّب على expected) إِذا كان بِإِمكانِك تَغيير عادة صِحِّيَّة واحِدة، ماذا ستختار؟ (CONDITIONAL required)" Communication (3) + QoL (3 — conditional Type 1, Form II health verb, academic vocabulary).
